adele doesn't have to be taxing

So, Adele has some dodgy views on tax.

I clicked on the link to the Guardian article critiquing her recent Q interview and like many, was slightly aghast at her opinion that she shouldn't have to pay so much tax on her millions for various reasons, the most telling being that she "can't even use public transport any more". Tweets and blogs followed condemning her, calling her stupid and a twat. It seemed to have the same level of response as a Nadine Dorries anti-choice call.

The points made on the Guardian were very valid, as were those on others' blogs. However, they seemed to be made in the spirit of "how could she not know this?". And the fact is, she has worked in the music business for all her adult life: she may have her keeping-it-real image but she is a girl from a stage school who has used her unconventional voice and overconventional looks as her brand.

Screaming and screeching is just going to fade into the constant background noise brought by her fame, the meaningless insults and misogyny. Someone must know someone who can sit her down with a cup of tea and explain why she might want to rethink her ideas about this one issue.

Or maybe I'm a simplistic romantic who thinks everything can be resolved with a kind explanation and a cup of tea. It's possible.
